Dr Saam Tourani is a Melbourne-based specialist breast, endocrine and general surgeon with extensive post-fellowship training in Australia and the UK. He is committed to delivering personalised, evidence-based care with a strong focus on patient education and shared decision-making.
Commitment to Excellence
Dr Saam Tourani’s commitment to excellence is reflected in both his academic achievements and extensive clinical training. He was consistently ranked at the top of his year throughout medical school and completed his surgical residency and registrar training at leading Australian institutions, including the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Western Health. He also undertook a PhD at the Taylor Reconstructive Plastic Surgery Research Laboratory at the University of Melbourne before being awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2019.
Following fellowship, Dr Tourani completed two years of advanced post-fellowship training in breast and endocrine surgery through BreastSurgANZ at some of the most respected centres in Australia and internationally, including Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, the Royal Liverpool Hospital in the United Kingdom, and the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He has further broadened his expertise through observing fellowships at internationally recognised units such as Nottingham Breast Unit, Manchester Breast Unit, and Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit in Glasgow.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Tourani is actively involved in surgical education and training. He is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Melbourne, an examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and a training supervisor at Northern Health.
